Straw Colour with golden hues and a lacy white head. Light floral aromas follow through on a light to medium bodied palate with subtle malt and hop flavours and a clean finish. An Australian Lager style with plenty of character.

Comments

6/8:- This is my first brew, so it's all new to me.

I'm brewing this according to the instructions in the Coopers Microbrewery Kit, with as little deviation as possible. Hopefully this will give me a good baseline. I'll start experimenting more when I have a better idea of what I'm doing.

I used bottled spring water, as recently I've been picking up a strong chlorine taste from the tap water.

13/8:- Bottled today. Airlock was still bubbling about once every 2 minutes, so it may still have been a bit too soon to bottle. Beer was very clear. Tased pretty good. Nice and crisp, no longer sweet. Used priming drops, but had quite a few left over, so I may have missed some bottles. Filled all bottles and only had to tip the fermenter for the last bottle. Using the brew belt to keep the bottles warm.

16/8:- Temperature regulation was poor. Added a timer, using a 50% duty cycle to keep the bottles at 20. Will condition for a extra week to make up for the poor initial start.

22/8:- Still poor temperature control. Setup a small fan heater with a thermostat. Temperature control is now better and bottles ar at 21. I'll leave them like this for at least another week.

7/9:- Tasting day. I've been waiting for this for a while. Not a bad brew (see review). Quite drinkable, and very impressed for my first brew. I think I'll have to work on serving it, but I have a few more bottles to practice on!

Review by Andre
Aroma: 8 out of 12 Nice hoppy beer smell, with a noticable fruity overtone. (Could I sound more like the blurb on a wine bottle??)
Appearance: 2 out of 3 Started out as a nice clear golden colour. By the second glass it was becoming a bit cloudy. I think I was stiring up the yeast as I poured. I'll need to work on this.
Flavor: 12 out of 20 Quite dry with a slight bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: 4 out of 5 Good head, but the beer was maybe a bit watery. This may improve by using a brew enhancer instead of just the brewers sugar.
Overall Impression: 8 out of 10 Quite a nice beer, easily drinkable and I might even share it around. Overall, very inpressed for my first brew.
Cumulative Score: 34 out of 50 Very Good
